Travel Safely and Easily Recommendations And Tips

My best Tips is to pack light and well. I was a Boy Scout “Be Prepared” and it helps a lot! The lighter you can pack the chance you can avoid checking luggage and use just carry on for you trip. This has several obvious advantages. One seldom thought of is perhaps you do some shopping when you’re out of town you can always then check a bag on your way home. I often keep a large duffel bag rolled up with in my carry-on just for that very reason.

Compare and Shop

Before you book a flight, hotel room, or vacation package, check the price on each of the individual vendor’s sites. Oftentimes, cutting out the middle man and booking separately is cheaper than buying a package on sites like Expedia or Orbitz. Furthermore, buying directly from the airline gives you more flexibility to manage your flights, and calling the hotel can result in unadvertised savings often this happens during low season and if you have a special event. Also keep in mind that third party sites require full payment up front, so do your homework before paying.

Read closely all information

Beware of hotels or airlines labeled “top picks” in your online search results. These aren’t necessarily of a higher quality or better value. Instead, they are often keywords and marketing, and therefore get populated at the top of your search.

The technology involved with travel has taken off

Use Manners Vogue Said,

“Modern Manners: Travel Etiquette — The Rules of the Road. … Here’s hoping your return isn’t — or wasn’t — bumpy, and here are seven simple, often ignored rules for making all your future in-transit travel — be it by plane, train, bus, or automobile — more agreeable.”

Safety Frist the below PDF covers it pretty well. Check the link after it as well.

Health

When you are travelling to another country, nothing can ruin a trip faster than travel illness. The good news is that if you follow these five simple travel rules, you can thwart illness and have an enjoyable traveler experience.

  1. Get your vaccinations updated

Often when we travel to other countries, we put ourselves at risk for certain diseases that are not common at home, but are rampant in the region we’re visiting. That’s why it’s wise to protect yourself a vaccination for preventable diseases — such as malaria, hepatitis, and dengue fever — if they exist in the region you plan to visit.

2. Frequently wash your hands

The easiest way to spread germs is via hand/nose to mouth contact. And your hands will certainly come into contact with various foreign germs as well as the common flu or cold while you travel. Washing your hands before you touch your face or consume food or drink will keep germs at bay.

3. Don’t drink tap water

A tried and true rule when travelling, drinking bottled water vs. tap water –especially in developing countries — will keep you from ingesting harmful microorganisms that may cause a parasite or bacterial waterborne illness. Only drink water that’s been boiled first — so coffee and tea is OK.

4. Don’t wear yourself out

When we travel, we often wear ourselves out trying to see and do everything. However, adequate rest will keep your immune system strong and prevent you from becoming susceptible to illnesses.

5. Avoid street meat

And by that I mean all ethnic foods prepared in a cart. Sure, that burrito may look delectable, but your body isn’t accustomed to the traditional food of the region and you will likely end up with a bout of nasty traveler’s diarrhea or tummy troubles as a result.

To express how important this is I took a trip with my mom to Broadway season in Manhattan, never order a pizza delivered to your hotel. Was the last day but was very sick. This was in NYC so caution needs taken everyplace.
